A Christmas Prayer
DEAR JESUS CHRIST, what a glorious time of the year it is when we stop to celebrate Your birth. Though the world has greatly commercialized the season, the special holiday bears Your name.
Help me, by example, to teach my children and grandchildren the importance of honoring You on this day we set aside to remember Your birth. Bless the families who gather to enjoy the holiday together. And for those who have conflicts and tensions among them, help them make peace with one another.
May my family boldly share with others the real meaning of Christmas by how we act and what we say,
I pray that multitudes around the world will receive You as Savior and Lord during this memorable time. Christmas truly is a yearly milestone for me.
Thank You, Jesus, for coming to earth as the promised Messiah to become our Redeemer. Amen.1
Scripture: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace… The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV).
An angel of the Lord appeared to him [Joseph] in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). (Matthew 1:20-23 NIV)
