Prayer Answer With Angelic Help
Prayer Answer with Angelic Help
Sometimes when God answers prayer we may believe He had angels working to help with the right outcome. The Bible records many angelic encounters. He even says, “See, I am sending an angel to guard you along the way.” (Exodus 23:20 NIV).
On a Friday afternoon several decades ago my prayer partner friend Lib and I were driving north from Miami back to our home in Titusville, Florida, my car loaded with houseplants my aunt had given us. We still had one hundred miles to go.
That same afternoon my husband, LeRoy, was driving the same four-lane freeway, but in the opposite direction, with our pastor and several other men going south for a weekend Christian retreat.
“We might see their recreational vehicle whiz by on this busy divided highway so let’s keep an eye out for them,” I told Lib. Highly unlikely I decided as I kept driving.
A few minutes later I glanced across the freeway and saw a Winnebago RV rolling south.
‘Look Lib. LeRoy is probably driving that RV. But black smoke is pouring out of the back end. That vehicle is in trouble. There’s no way we can go after them, not knowing how far it is to the next turn around,” I said.
“Let’s ask God to give them wisdom and to send angels to protect them,” I added. So we prayed, telling God we trusted Him to send whatever help the driver needed– including angels. I felt at peace as we drove toward home, and we continued to pray but without anxiety.
Three days later as soon as Leroy walked in the door from the retreat, he gave me a hug and said “Hey, we must have had an angel or two holding us up for some miles on our way down to the ranch. “
“I know,” I replied. “Lib and I prayed and asked the Lord to surround you with angels.”
“Really?” he asked. He went on with his story.
“I was driving the RV when I sensed I was losing control over the steering. I told the men I was stopping the Winnebago to go check it out. I pulled over and they got out. I drove forward, and the guys who were looking underneath said everything looked okay. Then I told them to stand clear so I could back up. When I put the RV in reverse and released the brake, the right front wheel assembly, including the axle, twisted off. The vehicle fell on top of the wheel. We had to get a wrecker and call for our friend to bring us a car so we could go to the retreat in time for supper.”
None of the men had seen the smoke bellowing out. None suspected trouble. But my husband, a mechanical engineer, knew from the way the vehicle steered that something was wrong. God does intervene.
Had the prayers Lib and I prayed been the connecting link? We believed God sent angels to hold that car up until my husband could safely stop it before they had an accident. Though we have no proof. God’s angels are present even when we don’t see them. And God still answers prayer in His own way and timing. And we praise Him when we see a miracle, even when we don’t know all the particulars of how He did it.(1)
Have you experienced a miracle you can share with others? It may build their faith!
Prayer: Thank You Lord for rescuing us in impossible and dangerous situations—and for sending angelic help when we need it. Thank You too for the Holy Spirit who often alerts us how to pray. Amen.
Scripture:
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and He delivers them. (Psalm 34:7)
